Unified storage API that lets BigQuery and open-source engines query data across Cloud Storage, AWS S3, and Azure Blob — with fine-grained IAM. Replaces the old "export everything into BigQuery" pattern.
AlloyDB
PostgreSQL-compatible managed database with 4x performance vs standard PostgreSQL and built-in AI/ML extensions. Tested as the high-performance relational option alongside Cloud SQL and Spanner.
Dataplex
Data mesh and governance platform. Manages decentralized data across multiple storage systems with lineage tracking, quality validation, and the Dataplex Catalog for discovery.
Dataform
SQL-based data transformation pipelines natively integrated with BigQuery. Replaces custom ETL for in-warehouse transformations with assertions for data quality.
RAG & Embeddings
Preparing unstructured data for AI retrieval-augmented generation. BigQuery ML vector search, embedding generation, and grounding are new to the renewal exam.
Cloud DLP (expanded)
DLP masking is tested more heavily on the renewal — specifically data masking for analytics (preserving data utility while protecting PII), not just detection.
